Blog #29: Investigation y=b^x

image

Y=b^x is an exponential equation. Some questions were…. What would happen if the number is not a whole number? How does the numbers affect the steep of the line? Why arnt we able to use negative numbers? Is this a function? How can i write an equation? What are other methods that i can use? The growth or changes that doubles or triples is something to look for.

Blog 30: Multiple Representations Web for Exponential Functions

There are four different representations for exponential functions. There is tables , equations, situations and graphs. I was first confused creating the exponential equation part but i understand most of them because we practiced these methods.

Blog 31: Updated Web for Exponential Functions

I learned how to make a chart and connect arrows between the models and make models to make and connect based on other models. For example i learned to use table, equation, situation and a graph. We were given a word problem and then we were given part of a table and had to complete the table. We we completed that we had to create an equation based on the growth or decrease int the tables.

Blog 32: Graph → Equation for Exponential Functions

To write an exponential equation you need to use the method y=ab^x. A representatives the y intercept and b the multiplier. To find the y intercept you see where the line hits.

Blog 33: Important Ideas about Exponential Functions

The important things you need to know about exponential functions are what A and B are and how they either make an equation increase or decrease. The exponential equations never crosses the x-axis. A is the y-intercept and B is the starting value. So for example for a problem if you start with $5000 that would be the starting value.
