The Westward Expansion impacted Native Americans negatively. The document, “Recollections of a Survior of the Trail of Tears,” supports this when the cherokee were forced to move to a whole new land in what we know now as Oklahoma. The document stated that the people were really sad to leave their land “Women, children, and men were crying, but they couldn’t do anything about it.” Document E, a letter from Jenny,  a cheorkee. She wrote a letter before her removal. The document shows that she and her tribe were forced to move and also states that their rights were broken. Document D, a letter to the Cherokee Nation from President Jackson, shows how even the president thinks that they should “Remove them to the West.” This proves how stressful the expansion was on the Native Americans. In conclusion, when the idea of the Manifest Destiny Expansion of the Americans, effected the Cheorkee tribe negatively because they were forced out of their lands and what the American’s promised them were broken.
