Introduction of Project:

This week in our class we have been reading about and evaluating apps. First, in our groups we each chose and article about describing multiple apps and read them. Then, we made a list of the pros and cons of each app using evidence from the article. In our groups we came up with our top 5 criteria, which we would be using for evaluating the apps. After, we each chose an app that we wanted to review and make a presentation on. After choosing an app and making our presentations we ranked the apps from 1-5 and concluded which app was the best.

Group Criteria:

Before actually evaluating our apps, we had to figure out what our top five criteria was going to be. We had to figure out our top 5 most important features that our app had to include. Our five criteria were: easy to use, convenient for iPad, creates good presentations with good templets, features etc. , has no in-app purchases or ads and is automatically saved. We chose easy to use because some apps are really complicated to learn how to use them and have to many features to keep track of. Convenient for iPad was in our criteria because some presentation apps are made for a computer and don’t have as many features on the iPad or are blurry because they were not made for the iPad. An app that creates good presentation with cool features like templates is important because then if you don’t have these features your presentation won’t be great. We chose no in app purchases because who likes purchasing more items and we chose automatically saved because some apps don’t save and your presentation gets deleted. After choosing our five criteria, we chose our apps, the app that I got was “Prezi”. I really like this app because it creates automatic transitions and has really cool templates; you can even put an image that you like as your template. Cons about “Prezi” is that you can’t change the font of the text and that it was made for the computer,  so some features don’t work as well on the IPad. There are no in app purchases and overall it is very simple and easy to use. We made a Google sheets with our criteria and our rankings for each of the assigned apps. Here is a link to the Google doc.

Final Thoughts:

Our group had to rank all 5 apps to see which were the best. We chose keynote as the best because it had great features and made really professional looking presentations. Although I have never actually tried to use keynote it’s does look like a cool all that I need to test. We chose Prezi as the second best app because although it didn’t have as many features as keynote, it is still a very good app to use if you want neat looking presentations. Then, we had to rank Google slides, explain everything and PowerPoint. We chose explain everything as our third best all because although it doesn’t have the best templates you can play around with the text and colors. The results that we saw from the class was keynote was the best presentation app. I agree because it is a great app with many features . I will definitely try using keynote because everyone votes on it being easy to use and a great app. I learned from this experience that all apps have their differences for the type of app you need. For example, some apps may have templates but no transitions, while others might have great transition and no templates.
