English is my second language and it was always easy, but starting middle school it was getting a bjt different, teachers would expect much more things from you. I attend Hilltop Middle and for the past 2 years I’ve had the same english teacher Mrs. Lepre. She is very funny, and may tells you funny stories, but you never want to to get her in a bad mood because she can not be as much fun as she can. For the past two years I’ve had a great expierence in her class, all her assignments are okay, but you hardly ever have homework excdpt read for AR. Sadly the 8th graders only nave 1 more month of school, and we will miss her. The reason I am writing this blog is because it is almost review day, which its fun, but its a lot of work. Review day is in like 2 weeks, but its not really called review day. Actually, its called Portfolio Night, here we talked what we have learned the past two years and present in front of our parents. This year my two assignments are “The FLAGS Video” which my team and I created in the 8th grade. Then we have “The Common Theme Assignment” which each person created in the 7th garde. 

       So way back in 2015 Mrs. Lepre created the “Common Themes Assignment” in this assignment we had to create a video on the app Explain Evrything. The video in Explain Everything was comparing two stroies, the first story was “The Monsters on Maple Street” and the second story was “Rosewood”. In this video I had to explain the differences and similarties of the two story’s, one of the similarties were that the people of both books judge the person by the way they looked. One of there differnces was that the the people in Maple Street judge people because they were going crazy because nothin electrical work, and the people of Rosewood judge people based o their skin color. The improvements I would make are that I would add more similarties and diffrences, also that I would make my video shorter with less gramer mistakes as I speak in the video. I guess that the learning outcome that relates to this is Critical and Creative Thinker because in this assignment I had to think and find the similarties and differences. After I had to create a video with all its differences and similarties.

     So for the eight grade assignment I choose the FLAGS Video. This was a group project. We had to write a scipt of why students should join Hilltop FLAGS and then record what we had to say. Some improvements I would make are that first I would choose a better way to record the scence, and made our video a bit longer than it was. The learning outcome of this assignment was Global and Civic Minded because this is FLAGS related which was about Global Studies as included in our video.

      One of the ways my writing has improved from the seventh grade to the eight grade was that I was able to find differences and similarties, in a much easier way than back in seventh grade. Also because I’d became better at using technology, I learned to use iMovie and Explain Everything. Yet, I do have some weaknesses still in the eight grade for example the fact that I can’t really analyze how the author addresses and responds to conflicting evidence or opposign viewpoints.  That is one of my weaknesses I need to work on.
