Irony is an expression that is usually the opposite of what the person really means.

The dog looks like a ball of cotton, but the dog actually has the roughest fur ever.

The man sleeps while he is driving.

 This is ironic because the fish lives in water and is made for the ocean but it’s dieing in the water.

This isn’t ironic because the pen is just black, there isn’t anything opposite about it.
